Buelach, Switzerland, 10 August 2009 - BIOTRONIK AG, a leading manufacturer of Vascular Interventional devices, announced the introduction of their new generation guide wire for the use in Superficial Femoral Artery (SFA) and Below-the-Knee (BTK) indications.
Cruiser-18 is a stainless steel, PTFE coated, 0.018” guide wire for peripheral use. It provides high support and is available in two lengths (195 cm and 300 cm) and two different tip configurations (medium and stiff). The flexible tip is tapered and re-shapeable; while the distal end of the guide wire has a hydrophilic coating to help cross difficult lesions with ease.
Alain Aimonetti, VP Sales and Marketing commented, “Cruiser-18 has been specifically designed to complement the company’s Passeo-18 balloon and Astron Pulsar self-expanding stent which are both on 0.018” guide wire platform. Complementing our devices with 4F crossing profiles for SFA and BTK interventions, it consequently plays an important role in the ability to manage the CLI (Critical Limb Ischemia) indications.”
This new high support guide wire will improve access to the lesion in combination with devices using the lowest 4F profile available and will dramatically improve the lesion crossing ability and therefore contribute significantly to success of the endovascular treatment options in the inflow and outflow vessels.
European launch in August 2009 will be immediately followed by worldwide introduction.
