DX Technology

Protecting Single-Chamber ICD Patients from Undetected AF

DX technology is a pioneering solution developed to increase therapy effectiveness and improve patients' quality of life. The DX system offers complete atrial diagnostics in a single lead ICD device, thereby encompassing the benefits of both single and dual-chamber ICDs. Now, with DF4-based DX technology in Plexa ProMRI S DX, the number of lead connectors is reduced to two only.
Signals coming from the atrial chambers of a patient’s heart can now be sensed by the floating dipole rings located in the proximal part of the DX lead, thanks to a special atrial input stage of the DX device.1 2
Detection of asymptomatic atrial fibrillation (AF) together with the early notification BIOTRONIK Home Monitoring® provides, enables timely intervention for AF management, reducing the risk of further complications and related hospitalization.3 4
Atrial sensing allows the SMART Detection algorithm to discriminate supraventricular tachycardias (SVTs) from ventricular tachycardias (VTs) by analyzing atrial and ventricular rhythms, an exclusive feature previously available only in dual-chamber ICDs.5 High sensitivity and specificity on SVT/VT discrimination contributes to safely reduce the risk of inappropriate shocks.
The MATRIX study, an ongoing international, multicenter, observational registry, will evaluate the impact of the enhanced features and capabilities of the new BIOTRONIK DX system on detection and management of AF in an unselected real-world setting.6
The BIOTRONIK DX System provides unique protection to ICD patients who do not require atrial pacing.

Home Monitoring

BIOTRONIK Home Monitoring is a remote monitoring service available with cardiac monitors, pacemakers, implantable defibrillators (ICD) and cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) systems. Home Monitoring allows physicians to continuously and reliably survey the patients’ physiologic and device condition and alerts responsible healthcare staff of acute health changes within 24 hours.
