Pacing Systems

Bringing the Heart Back to Normal Rhythm

Pacing systems are designed to treat patients with bradycardia, the condition of the heart, where the heart is beating too slow to maintain sufficient supply of oxygenated blood throughout the body. Such condition may be caused by dysfunctions of the sinu-atrial (SA) node, the atrio-ventricular (AV) node, or other parts of the heart's conduction system.

The aim of implanting a pacemaker system is to restore regular sinus rhythm and heart rate by using small electrical impulses delivered through leads directly to the heart, designed to stimulate heart muscle cells externally, when intrinsic stimulation fails or is unreliable.

Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator Systems

Safeguarding Lives Through Heart Rhythm Restoration

Tachycardia is a very fast heartbeat of more than 100 beats per minute. During ventricular tachycardia, the heart beats too rapidly to pump sufficient blood to the body. This condition is life-threatening and can lead to ventricular fibrillation, during which the ventricles can no longer contract. Ventricular fibrillation causes cardiac arrest within minutes – the heart unexpectedly stops beating – and is one of the most common causes of sudden cardiac death (SCD).

The only effective way to stop ventricular fibrillation is through defibrillation. An implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) delivers electrical impulses and shocks through leads to terminate tachycardias and fibrillation, allowing the heart to restart its activity in a normal rhythm.

Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy Systems

Improving Quality of Life

Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy (CRT) systems are used to treat the symptoms and complications associated with certain types of heart failure. These systems help the pumping chambers beat in a coordinated manner so that the heart works properly. By improving blood flow, CRT may reduce heart failure symptoms, improving patients’ quality of life and reducing mortality.

Implantable Cardiac Monitoring Systems

Listening to the Patient’s Heart

Implantable cardiac monitors (ICM) are used for long-term monitoring of a patient's heart electrical activity to detect irregular heart rhythms (arrhythmias). The intelligent ICM can automatically detect arrhythmias even when the patient is unaware of these. The device is able to store several ECGs covering multiple types of arrhythmias. In combination with BIOTRONIK Home Monitoring®, the data is sent to the physician on a daily basis. In this way, the physician is better informed and can make a diagnosis earlier.

Medical guidelines recommend the use of ICMs for patients with unexplained syncope and for those suspected to have atrial fibrillation (AF).

Remote Patient Monitoring Systems

Empowering Patients and Enhancing Care

BIOTRONIK’s advanced Remote Patient Monitoring Systems enable healthcare providers to remotely monitor patients' vital signs, ensuring timely interventions and personalized care for all patients with a BIOTRONIK cardiac device. Our remote cardiac monitoring system, BIOTRONIK Home Monitoring, offers the opportunity to deliver intelligent, alert based care. With the BIOTRONIK Patient App, patients can also be involved in their condition and actively contribute to their remote cardiac monitoring.

Our solutions offer real-time data transmission, empowering healthcare providers to make informed decisions and optimize treatment plans. The secure and user-friendly platform ensures patient privacy while facilitating efficient communication between doctors and patients – all to improve patient care.

Programmers and External Devices

Seamless Connectivity and Data Transfer

BIOTRONIKs state-of-the-art programmers and external devices are designed to enhance patient care and streamline workflow in the field of cardiac rhythm management. Our portable programmers are used during implantation procedures and follow-ups of BIOTRONIK implantable devices. Real-time remote support enables swift exchange of information. BIOTRONIKs external pacemaker offers complete reliability in emergencies and for temporary patient care.

With our advanced programming capabilities, healthcare providers can easily customize and optimize therapy settings for patients with cardiac conditions, offering seamless connectivity, allowing for efficient data transfer and remote monitoring.

Lead Delivery Systems

Stable Tools in Various Options

Lead delivery systems are tools that help make even challenging implantations a success. They are developed for maximum convenience and ease of use during lead implantations.

BIOTRONIK offers tools to support lead placement for cardiac resynchronization therapy, as well as for conduction system pacing (CSP).
