MRI Guard 24/7 Next Generation MRI Access

Uniquely available with Amvia Sky pacemakers from BIOTRONIK.

Amvia Sky's MRI Guard 24/7 provides an automatic MRI mode switch for easy MRI examinations without pre- and post-scan programming appointments1,2 – increasing efficiencies for both care teams and patients.

  • Ordinarily, pre- and post-MRI scan programming can take up to 28 minutes,3 which adds waiting time to the patient, the radiology staff and number of personnel needed.3 MRI Guard 24/7 is intended to save some of this time.
  • The sensor can be active for complete follow-up intervals up to one year, allowing for MRI scans at any time during this time frame.

MRI Guard 24/7 Simplifies the MRI Workflow

Amvia Sky built-in sensor detects the MR environment and automatically switches the device to the predefined MRI setting. This results in the following benefits:

  • Less programming is required by a medical professional (cardiologist) as part of the MRI procedure, which saves costs.
  • More flexibility in scheduling patient appointments which increases efficiency of the cardiology and radiology departments and simplifies the workflow.
  • Before and after the scanning procedure no supervision by a medical professional apart from radiology staff is needed, as the patient remains in optimal therapy mode during that time. As a result, additional costs can be avoided.

Automatic MRI brady mode and automatic adaption of pacing rate

The following pacing rate occurs when the device is in MRI brady mode.

Rate before/after MRI scan Paced Rate during MRI scan
Paced rate = current paced rate + safety margin (+15bpm)
Intrinsic rate = intrinsic rate + safety margin (+15bpm)
MRI Suitability Certificate

MRI Suitability Certificate

BIOTRONIK has updated the MRI Suitability Certificate which clearly indicates that the device is suitable for MRI Scans. This certificate can be signed by the physician /stamped by the clinic and provided as a printed version to the patient at the time of a clinic check up. A prompt is built in for a MRI system check at every follow-up to keep the system MRI ready. This certificate is valid for 12 months from the issue date and the patient should bring their copy with them to all MRI scan appointments.
