Applying for a Job at BIOTRONIK: Tips from the Talent Acquisition Team in Berlin

How long have you been with BIOTRONIK, and what is your role?

I’ve been working at BIOTRONIK for about six months as a Talent Acquisition Partner at the headquarters in Berlin-Neukölln. I'm still fairly new to the company and have just finished my own onboarding. I have, however, been working in recruiting for many years.

In my role, I support business units in their search for the right talent and also serve as the point of contact for applicants throughout the entire application process.

What do you particularly enjoy about your work in recruiting?

What I enjoy most is the personal interaction with people. I’m interested in how applicants present themselves, what motivates them, and what kind of atmosphere develops during the interview.

At the same time, I help find the right specialists for our teams—people who work on products that save lives. It’s especially rewarding when an initial meeting leads to a long-term partnership.

What can applicants expect during the application process at BIOTRONIK?

Applicants can expect a transparent, respectful, and well-organized application process at BIOTRONIK. It is important to us to communicate openly and provide prompt feedback so that the process remains transparent at all times.

What is important to you during your first interview with applicants?

It’s important to me to create an open and relaxed atmosphere during the interview so that we can interact as equals. A brief personal introduction often helps make the conversation flow more naturally.

I want to understand what candidates are looking for and whether BIOTRONIK could be the right place for their next career move. Authenticity and genuine interest are my top priorities. Candidates want to make a good impression—but they also want to be convinced themselves. Ultimately, what matters is whether they can feel at home in a new company or team. Just as we expect candidates to show their authentic selves, I believe we also have a responsibility to present ourselves honestly and attractively—both in our public image and throughout the application process. For me, this means that companies should also actively reach out to suitable candidates.

What helps applicants come across as authentic?

Applicants come across as most authentic when they don’t put on a facade and speak openly about their experiences, goals, and even their insecurities. Good preparation helps—especially asking yourself questions such as: What am I good at? What motivates me? What am I looking for? This self-reflection makes it easier to talk honestly and clearly about your own goals and strengths.

It’s also important to come prepared with your own questions. This turns the conversation into an interactive exchange. I can usually tell right away whether someone has memorized their answers or is really saying what they think. Honesty always goes over better.

What kinds of questions do you particularly enjoy asking?

I particularly enjoy asking questions that have neither a right nor a wrong answer and that reveal more about the person behind the resume. These questions often open up a whole new dimension to the conversation. They bring to light aspects of personality, values, and ways of thinking that traditional questions fail to capture. My focus is not only on understanding a person’s professional skills, but also on understanding what makes them tick, what motivates them, and how they fit into the team.

Many are pleasantly surprised by how personal and down-to-earth our interviews are. You'll quickly realize that we're not just going through a checklist—we're genuinely interested in people.

Is there a personal highlight from your day-to-day work with applicants?

I especially appreciate it when applicants thank us after the interview—not just for the invitation, but for the atmosphere and the respectful conversation. This shows how important a respectful hiring process is.

What makes BIOTRONIK special to you as an employer?

For me, BIOTRONIK combines purpose and innovation. We work on products that save and improve lives, in an environment where professionalism, teamwork, and responsibility are put into practice. This shared goal motivates me every day.
