What do you consider important during your first interview with candidates?
Candidates come across as authentic when they speak openly about their experiences—both their strengths and their challenges—and in doing so, show what truly drives them. It's especially nice when they're curious, ask questions, and let their personality shine through.
What kinds of questions do you especially like to ask?
I like to ask questions that reveal what motivates people and what’s important to them in their day-to-day work, for example: “What professional achievement are you particularly proud of?” or “In what kind of team environment can you reach your full potential?” These questions lead to genuine conversations and help us determine whether the role, the team, and the company culture are truly a good fit.
What surprises candidates the most during interviews with BIOTRONIK?
Many are surprised by how warm, collaborative, and purpose-driven our culture is. People often expect a very formal, highly hierarchical atmosphere from a global medical technology company. Instead, they find BIOTRONIK to be exceptionally personable and approachable. Our teams’ passion for patient well-being is also mentioned particularly often.
What can applicants expect during the application process at BIOTRONIK?
A respectful, transparent, and humane process. We make a point of taking the time to get to know the applicants’ experiences, goals, and expectations. At the same time, we give them the opportunity to truly understand our culture, our way of working, and our mission.
Is there a personal highlight from a recruiting process that has particularly stuck with you?
For me, it’s always a highlight when candidates I’ve worked closely with successfully settle into their roles—especially when they later tell me how meaningful they find their work or how supported they feel within the team. This reminds me time and time again why I love recruiting so much: We don't just fill positions; we support people on their career paths.
Here's an example that has particularly stuck with me: I once met a student at a university. He had grown up in a small town and had never left his home state, but he was highly motivated to work directly with patients in a clinical specialist role. Despite major changes, he was willing to move and step outside his comfort zone. He eventually moved to a big city—a whole new world for him—and thrived there. He built strong relationships with doctors, had a direct impact on patients, and was supported by his team at all times. I’ll never forget his journey from a student from a small town to a confident, successful Clinical Specialist.
What makes BIOTRONIK special to you as an employer?
To me, BIOTRONIK stands out for its strong mission, long-term perspective, and high standards for quality and patient care. There is a sense of stability and purpose throughout the company. People take care of their work and look out for one another. It is precisely this combination that makes BIOTRONIK so special to me.
