Supply Chain & Operations at BIOTRONIK India: Experience, Responsibility, Reliability
How long have you been with BIOTRONIK, and what do you do here?
I've been with BIOTRONIK India since 2009. In the early years, I focused on tasks related to the national supply chain. Over time, import processes and the coordination of orders for countries on the subcontinent were added. I was also involved in setting up our new warehouse and helped oversee the implementation of SAP in 2019.
Looking back, BIOTRONIK India has grown tremendously. Since 2009, our revenue has grown 25-fold. At the same time, our systems and work processes have changed significantly. Today, we work in a much more structured, digital, and customer-focused way, especially when collaborating with our channel partners.
How did you first learn about BIOTRONIK?
My connection to the BIOTRONIK brand began back in 2004, when I was working for a company that distributed BIOTRONIK products throughout India. In this role, I was first introduced to medical technology and witnessed just how much BIOTRONIK has grown in the region.
Between 2005 and 2009, I continued to work closely with BIOTRONIK products. So when the opportunity arose to join BIOTRONIK directly, it was a logical next step for me. For me, becoming part of the company meant working in a professional environment with clear processes and being part of a global team that takes patient safety seriously.

What convinced you to join the company?
I was particularly impressed by BIOTRONIK’s technical expertise and its strong portfolio of life-saving therapies. From my previous job, I was already familiar with the quality and reliability of the products, but their exceptional track record of zero recalls was what really won me over.
In an industry where precision and integrity are crucial, this commitment to quality is not something to be taken for granted. At the same time, I knew that my work in Supply Chain and Operations—even though it isn't clinical—has a direct impact on ensuring that patients receive essential medical devices in a timely manner. This combination of quality, responsibility, and purpose is what won me over.
What does a typical workday look like for you?
My daily work involves coordinating import and distribution processes, processing documentation, approving orders, and ensuring smooth operations through our MIS system.
I particularly enjoy tasks that involve planning, problem-solving, and close coordination with the sales team and our distributors. Unexpected situations arise time and again in the supply chain—urgent import needs, delays in documentation, or last-minute market demand. I find it very fulfilling to stay calm in moments like these, analyze the situation quickly, and come up with a practical solution.
One example that has particularly stuck with me was the launch of Amvia and Solvia in India. Demand was significantly higher than expected, and we sold out within a few days. I worked closely with the team in Berlin to arrange an additional shipment on short notice. Seeing this shipment leave our warehouse on time was a tremendous sense of accomplishment for me.
What makes your work at BIOTRONIK special to you?
Being part of a company that makes life-saving therapies possible gives my work a lot of meaning. Even though I don't work directly with patients, I know that my duties help ensure that people receive timely care.
One moment in particular made this very clear to me: A hospital in my city urgently needed a specific cardiac device, but our inventory was empty and time was running out. A shipment was just cleared by customs, and my team and I stayed late to open the boxes and locate the specific device we needed. It was stressful, but we managed to deliver the product on time. Knowing that our work helped a patient at that very moment really moved me.
In addition to the meaningful nature of our work, I’m also motivated by the trust that BIOTRONIK places in its employees and the appreciation we receive in return. It's an environment where long-term commitment matters and where I learn something new every day.
What surprises new colleagues most about your job?
Many are surprised by how dynamic my role is. It requires multitasking, forward-looking planning, and close coordination with various departments. In addition, new colleagues often notice how long I’ve been with BIOTRONIK—and the practical experience I’ve gained over the years.
What opportunities for professional growth have you experienced here?
BIOTRONIK has given me many opportunities for professional growth. The transition from our old ERP system to SAP was an important learning experience during which I became familiar with new technologies and processes. In addition, I participated in HR and professional development programs that helped me grow both professionally and personally.
Between 2009 and 2025, BIOTRONIK India experienced significant growth. Being part of this growth in the supply chain sector was challenging, but also very educational. With the support of management and through continuous process improvements, we were able to meet the increasing demands. Knowing that I was able to contribute to this makes me proud.
What has been your best moment at BIOTRONIK so far?
I’m especially proud to have received the “Best Employee Award” three times already. These awards are presented at the state level and recognize outstanding achievements. Being selected multiple times has made me feel truly valued and has reinforced my commitment to giving my best every day.
What do you value most about your team or the company culture?
I really appreciate the open, flexible, and friendly culture. There are hardly any unnecessary hierarchies or bureaucracy. Colleagues are approachable, helpful, and work closely together. This sense of camaraderie is what makes BIOTRONIK such a great place to work for me.
Is there anything that particularly excites you, either at work or in your personal life?
At work, I especially enjoy the close collaboration with the sales team and keeping an eye on market trends. That helps me plan ahead and be well prepared.
In my free time, I read a lot and enjoy watching movies. I find mythological stories from Indian history particularly inspiring because they convey timeless values and human traits. Classic Indian cinema, especially the films of Satyajit Ray, also impresses me with its calm narrative style and its observation of human emotions.
What advice would you give to applicants who want to start at BIOTRONIK?
BIOTRONIK offers an excellent environment for professional growth and independent work. There is very little micromanagement, and employees are encouraged to take responsibility for their own tasks. When you bring new ideas to the table, the company encourages and supports them—as long as you remain committed to its goals. It's a great place for anyone who values trust, continuous learning, and professional growth.
