Living with a Health Condition

Facing Daily Life Together

You should not have to face a cardiovascular disease alone. Many people are willing and able to help – from family and friends to patient support groups. Discuss your disease, heart device and possible side effects in detail with those around you. Talking to others will bring you closer together and, over time, will help you get used to your new life.

Don’t Worry about Your Cell Phone

Electrically active implants such as pacemakers, ICDs and CRT devices are well shielded from cell phone radiation, and complications are extremely rare. In any case, hold your cell phone on the opposite side of the heart device when you are make a call, and when not in use, store your cell phone a few centimeters away from your chest, for example in your purse or pants pocket.
